Early Voting Starts Oct. 22

Here's where you can pick up an application to cast your ballot early, to avoid the rush on Election Day.

If you don't want to wait until Election Day, Nov. 6, to cast your ballot in the presidential election, you can vote early.

In Cook County, Early Voting runs Monday through Saturday this week and next week, Oct. 22 to Nov. 3.

Anyone can vote early, and you don't need to give a reason. So if you have to work on Election Day, or just want to get it out of the way, you can head to the polls now.

You need to bring a photo ID, such as a driver's license, state-issued ID card or university ID card with you in order to vote.

You can vote at any Early Voting location in the county. The nearest are:

  • , Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Park Ridge City Hall, 505 Butler Place, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Niles Village Hall, 1000 Civic Center Drive, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registered voters can download an application to receive a mail-in ballot on the Cook County Clerk’s website, or pick an application up at the Des Plaines City Clerk’s Office at City Hall or at . The application must then be mailed into the Cook County Clerk’s Office, and a ballot will be mailed to the voter. Ballots may then be mailed back to the Cook County Clerk’s Office, and must be received at the office by Nov. 1.

The Cook County Clerk’s offices is offering grace-period registration from Oct. 10 to Nov. 3 at each of its offices including at Skokie courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road, and the Rolling Meadows courthouse, 2121 Euclid Ave.

Those who register during the grace period vote on touch screen voting equipment immediately after registering, according to the Cook County Clerk’s website. For more information on grace-period voting registration, visit the clerk’s website.

You may also cast a provisional ballot, but you have to register with the Cook County Clerk’s Office in order for it to be counted. For more information on provisional voting, visit the Cook County Clerk’s website.
