Des Plaines Remembers 9-11

Members of the Des Plaines Fire and Police Departments  hosted a 9-11 Memorial and “Patriot Day” Ceremony, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in front of Fire Station #1, 405 S. River Road.

Fire Lt. Dave Macri, Police Commander Chet Zaprzalka, and Media Specialist William Soderberg coordinated the event which included an Honor and Color Guard and commentaries by Mayor Matthew J. Bogusz, Police Chief William Kushner, Fire Chief Alan Wax, and Fire Department Division Chief Forest Reeder, a press release from the city states.

Des Plaines Fire Department Chaplain Pastor David Haley and North Maine Fire Protection District Chaplain Pastor Charles Reed gave an invocation and reflective moment. Marine Corp Corporal Marshal Macri played “Taps.”

The ceremony paid homage to the victims of September 11, 2001, and to their families and friends.
