Des Plaines Officials Postpone Water Rate Increase Vote

The city is proposing an 6.9 percent increase to compensate for higher supplier costs, the Chicago Tribune reports.

 

Des Plaines aldermen have once again postponed a vote to approve a water rate increase for residents, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The aldermen are considering a 6.9 percent increase, which would add up to $2.25 per month for the average resident. The increase is on the table to offset the 15 percent increase in costs from Chicago, which is the city's water supplier, the Daily Herald reports.
