Update, 6:25 p.m. on April 9:

Third Ward aldermanic candidate Denise Rodd stated, "Meeting residents at West Park and feeling positive about our city's future."

Update, 6:30 p.m. on April 9:

Jim Hanson, Des Plaines mayoral candidate Matt Bogusz’s campaign manager stated, “With half an hour until polls close we've got almost twenty volunteers working polling locations, walking precincts and making phone calls still.”

Update, 7 p.m. on April 9:

Des Plaines mayoral candidate and Sixth Ward Alderman gathered with supporters at Café la Cave banquet hall, 2777 Mannheim Road in Des Plaines, on Tuesday night. Walsten was with his girlfriend, her three daughters, friends and other well-wishers.

Walsten said they hoped they did enough to get their message out.

“We hope all our hard work is going to pay off,” Walsten said.

Update, 8:38 p.m. on April 9:

Tony DiViest, Matt Bogusz's grandfather: "I'm a nervous wreck. He's got to win."

Update, 8:40 p.m. on April 9:

With 35 of 44 precincts reporting, Matt Bogusz has won the Des Plaines Mayoral race. According to the Cook County Election's Results page, only 6,386 ballots were cast in the election.

Update, 8:44 p.m. on April 9:

Bogusz campaign volunteer Michelle Baert "We expect good things. I think it will be close, but I expect victory."

Update, 11:07 p.m. on April 9:

First Ward aldermanic candidate Steven Mokry stated he hoped for the best for residents.

“Obviously [I’m] disappointed, but I worked hard, and hope the residents will be served well in the First Ward,” Mokry stated.

Mokry stated there were big problems facing residents, including the low occupancy rate in Metropolitan Square in the downtown area.

“If Metropolitan Square is not addressed, you are looking at almost 10 years of vacancy,” Mokry stated.

Mokry added, “Well, the residents have spoken, and if things fail, they only have themselves to blame.”
