Des Plaines Looking to Save on Garbage

Des Plaines is moving toward a new garbage contract that should lower costs for residents.

The Des Plaines City Council took a step toward approving a new garbage contract that could save residents $5 a month, the Journal & Topics reported.

The council voted this week to continue talks with Republic Services on a new garbage contract, the newspaper reported. The Chicago Tribune reported the deal could save the city $1 million a year on garbage collection.

The city still must finalize and approve a deal.
