Des Plaines Garbage Pickup Pushed Back One Day

Des Plaines has suspended garbage and recycling collection for Monday, Jan. 6.

The city of Des Plaines has announced that garbage and recycling collection will be suspended Monday, Jan. 6.

"The safety of the residents in our communities as well as the safety of our employees is an important goal of Republic Services. After careful review of weather conditions we have made the decision to shut down operations on Monday, January 6. We anticipate re-opening on Tuesday, January 7 and will be operating under a "holiday schedule" for the remainder of the week," the city website states.
