Des Plaines Flood Expenses Won't Be Reimbursed

The City of Des Plaines spent about $2 million in response to the April floods, and none of it will be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Daily Herald reports.

Cook County did not get approval for federal flood money because expenses only totaled $9.3 million. The county needed to have $17.9 million in expenses for it to qualify for FEMA help, the newspaper reports. Cook County is the only one of the 40 Illinois counties impacted by the flood that did not get approval for federal money.
