Des Plaines Considers Water Rate Increase

Purchasing water from Evanston is an option being considered by Des Plaines, among others, TribLocal reported.

Des Plaines and Park Ridge are addressing increasing water rates from Chicago, TribLocal reported. Among options for both cities is purchasing water from Evanston, TribLocal reported, which sources water directly from Lake Michigan.

Des Plaines City Council voted against passing along the water rate increase from the City of Chicago to Des Plaines residents earlier this month, the Daily Herald reported.

The City of Des Plaines increased its water and sewer rate by 21.23 percent at the beginning of 2012.
