Mark Walsten, Des Plaines alderman and mayoral candidate, expressed interest in installing a traffic light at Lee Street and Forest Avenue, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.

Walsten recently attended an Economic Development Commission meeting, where he said a traffic light on Lee Street and Forest Avenue would improve safety in the area. Walsten also said he believes the city should consider giving money to the Economic Development Commission which is currently not funded by city dollars, the newspaper reports.

Yay, Mark, it' s about time! That is one dangerous intersection just waiting for something bad to happen, the lights are timed at Oakton and Algonquin so that traffic is constant when you try to turn out of Aldi's, so you wait forever to turn left, and there is just too much confusion right there. If no stoplight, at least a stop sign, I think we can afford a piece of metal on a stick!
