City Considers Additional $222,000 for Train Station Remodeling

The Des Plaines City Council will discuss the additional funds at Monday's meeting. Emerald ash borer and a lifesaving award are also on the agenda.

The Des Plaines City Council will discuss adding an additional $222,000 to the price tag of the train station remodeling project at its Monday night meeting, according to the agenda. The money would come from TIF funds.

The council has already approved $500,000 toward the project, according to the Journal & Topics. This would cover outdoor seating, a larger coffee shop, lighting, flooring and benches.

The City Council will also discuss ammeding its ordinance, "to allow for the inspection and removal of trees infested with the “emerald ash borer,” according to the agenda. There will also be a "lifesaving award" presentation to Sgt. Shanahan.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
