Cardinal George Says Same-Sex Marriage 'Against The Common Good,' Do You Agree?

Cardinal Francis George releases a strongly-worded letter as the State Legislature moves closer to a vote on gay marriage.

As gay marriage moves closer to a vote in the Illinois General Assembly, Cardinal Francis George has released a letter attacking the notion of same- sex marriage itself and urging Catholics to voice their objections.

A vote could happen in the Senate as soon as today as lawmakers look to pass the legislation during the lame duck session. Illinois would become the 10th state in the country to allow same-sex marriages.

In his letter, George stated because same-sex marriages cannot be consummated and are not undertaken for the purpose of conceiving children that government, "has no power to create something that nature itself tells us is impossible."

He qualifies his argument by writing that the Catholic church offers support for the gay community through various ministries. George argues that opposition to the potential law is crucial because of societal acceptance same-sex marriage would gain if it is viewed as legal.

"Human dignity and human rights are then reduced to the whims of political majorities," he writes.

Supporters of same-sex marriage have long argued that legalization is a human rights issue and the restriction of marriage rights to heterosexual couples is its own form of discrimination.

The law would force no religious institutions to perform same-sex marriages.

Gay marriage has been gaining support nationally at a comparatively rapid rate in recent years. Recent polls have consistently indicated that over half of Americans support it. That number spikes to 72 percent of Americans between 18 and 29 years of age, according to a CBS News poll.

Every part our body has a specific natural function and benefit to the body and benefits other people in their use . Eyes, see! Ears, hear! Mouths , speak! Our sex organs find their natural use in reproduction(children)! Therefore, un-natural use in a neutured relationship produces no benefit to the either body or to others. A legal declaration, in law, that a stated good exists(marriage) where no good(children) can possibly come of the "marriage" is fantasy and contrary to reason!

(PART 1) I have always thought in our world, To each his or her own. Why some people are born different, Only God knows, and only God can judge. What people are does not make them unloved by God, He loves us all no matter what. I also know what the Bible Teaches in 1st Corinthians 6-9, as followed: Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.11 - And yet that is what some of YOU were. But YOU have been washed clean, but YOU have been sanctified, but YOU have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.

(PART 2) The Bible just does not speak about same sex, but also Fornicators, Idolaters, Adulterers, Thieves, Greedy Persons, Drunkards, Extortioners etc will inherit Gods Kingdom. However, That is what some of you were, WERE is the operative word. meaning, that Jesus died on the Torture Stake to wash us clean of our sins, as we are ALL SINNERS, and fall short of Gods. As a Christian, I do beleive many people take the Bible out of context, as WE ARE ALL BORN SINNERS. God knows that. I cannot speak for God, however what I think he is saying is that we can all be wash clean because of the blood of Jesus Christ. We can be forgiven when the time comes, When we are all made perfect. We can ask for Gods forgiveness, In Gods "Time. Only God Can Condemn, NOT Man

(FOOTNOTE) Even though God Love us and Will Forgive Us if we Repent and Ask For Forgiveness, does not give us Card Blanche to keep on committing sins. As We will be judge on our deeds. We must still strive to be Good Neighbors, and love Jehovah God. This life is a prelude for whats to come. How we live our lives here will determine by God if we get to live in the paradise earth after Armageddon. (God's Time) when we are given the opportunity to be made PERFECT, because of the blood of Jesus Christ and our Repentance. We will be forgiven.
