Woman Hits Officer on Neck, More in Wednesday Blotter

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Battery

Cynthia York, 48, of Des Plaines, was charged with battery following an incident at the Des Plaines police station. York came to the lobby of the police station and was highly intoxicated at 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 2, police stated, said she was very cold and wanted a cab to take her home.

As police were calling a cab for York, according to the report, she collapsed on the floor.

When police told York to sit on the bench while she waited for the cab, she became upset, sat up and began to crawl on her hands and knees toward the police officer, according to the report. The officer backed up to the benches in the lobby, according to the report, when York slowly stood up and struck the officer on the right side of the neck with her left forearm. York was then taken into custody, police stated.

York was given a court date of Feb. 22 at Skokie courthouse.

Burglary

Cash and costume jewelry were reported stolen from a condominium on the 900 block of S. River Road sometime between 10 a.m. on Jan. 30 and 1 p.m. on Jan. 31, police stated. Property loss was estimated at $140.

Theft

A minor was issued a theft citation for stealing CDs and DVDs from the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 E. Ellinwood St., between 9 a.m. on Jan. 1 and 1:31 p.m. on Feb. 2, police stated. The CDs and DVDs were returned to the library, according to the report, and the juvenile was given a court date at Skokie courthouse.
