Wisconsin Cops: Des Plaines Man Operated Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated

A Des Plaines man was arrested in Walworth, Wisconsin following a two-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital on Monday. Bernard B. Benjamin, 70, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and failing to yield right of way from stop sign, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release Oct. 3.

Benjamin was driving northbound on Six Corners Road at Highway 14 when, according to police, after stopping at the stop sign, he failed to yield the right of way, entered Highway 14, and struck a vehicle traveling westbound. Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash report at approximately 8:38 p.m. on Oct. 1.

The driver of the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 14 and a passenger in Benjamin’s vehicle were transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries, police stated in the press release.

Benjamin was booked and released from the Walworth County Jail.
