Wednesday Blotter: Des Plaines Woman Grabs Teacher’s Shirt, Lanyard

Battery

Rayna A. Tcharaktchieva, 34, of Des Plaines, was charged with battery following an incident that occurred on school grounds in the 1100 block of N. River Road from 10:07 to 10:15 a.m. on April 18.

Police stated that a teacher was walking with a group of girls and another teacher in the middle of a side street on school grounds when a blue minivan began honking at them. After the group moved to the side of the street Tcharaktchieva exited the minivan and screamed at the teacher. The teacher told police Tcharaktchieva reached toward her chest and grabbed her shirt and a lanyard that she had around her neck.

Tcharaktchieva denied touching the teacher or reaching for the ID, police stated. Tcharaktchieva was charged with battery and given a court date of May 30 at Skokie courthouse.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

Police responded to a vandalism report in the 900 block of S. East Grant Drive at 11:22 p.m. on April 20. Sometime between 4:45 p.m. and 11:08 p.m. on April 20 an unknown offender damaged the driver’s side mirror on a vehicle parked in front of the residence. Property loss was estimated at $200.

Burglary to Vehicle

Police were dispatched for a burglary to vehicle report in the 1200 block of S. Lee Street at 11:22 a.m. on April 20. Sometime between 10 p.m. on April 19 and 10 a.m. on April 20, an unknown offender removed a Garmin GPS device from a rental car parked in a business parking lot. Property loss was estimated at $200.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Police reported a laptop computer was removed from a vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 600 block of E. Forest Avenue sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. on April 20. According to the report, the unknown offender gained entry to the vehicle by breaking its window. Property loss was estimated at $500.
