UPDATE: State's Attorney Anticipates Trial in District 225 Bomb Threat Case

Attorneys' investigations near completion. Setting of trial date may be next.

A trial date may be on the horizon for , the former District 225 student accused of making , according to statements made by attorneys today in the Skokie Branch of Cook County Criminal Court. 

The resident, who is currently attending Camelot School in Des Plaines, is charged with two separate felony counts of false terrorist threats, carrying a possible prison term of four to 15 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Andy Conklin. He is also charged with felony disorderly conduct, which carries a possible two- to five-year prison sentence, and a misdemeanor claim of illegal possession of fireworks.

Ricco attorney Steven Weinberg told Judge Garritt Howard that necessary investigations and preparation are continuing.

“Discovery [by the Cook County State’s Attorney] is complete, I am told,” Weinberg said. “I have one additional piece of investigation that I believe can be ready by May 17.”

Weinberg had no additional comments outside of his statements in court.

Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Michael Vojta believes Howard will set a trial date once all information has been gathered. 

“I expect a trial date will be set in the future but I don’t know when,” Vojta said. 

The parties will return for another status hearing at 9:30 a.m., May 17 in Room 206 of the Skokie Courthouse.
