Woman found home ransacked, thousands missing

The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary to vehicle

May 28: Unknown offenders forced a partially opened window down and stole a CD player and amplifier, valued at $380, from a man's car while it was parked on the 2100 block of South Chestnut Street.

Drinking in Public

May 26: While performing a premise check police observed a man passed out at the Des Plaines train depot, 1501 E. Miner St. Lawrence Diestelow, 59, who is homeless, admitted to being in possession of open alcohol and received citations for drinking in public and tresspassing.

Residential Burglary

May 26: A woman reported that the home she shares with her husband and a friend on the 700 block of Madelyn Drive had been burglarized. The home had been ransacked and more than $5,000 had been taken.
