Tuesday Blotter: Street Signs, Restaurant Vandalized, More

Criminal Damage to Property

Jonathan A. Shelton, 19, of Rosemont, was issued a citation for criminal damage to property after reportedly vandalizing the back door of the Sugar Bowl restaurant and the municipal parking garage in the 600 block of Metropolitan Way using a black marker between 10 p.m. and 10:08 p.m. on May 18. According to the report, Shelton told police he was downtown picking up job applications and went into the alley to “draw on some things” while he waited for a bus to arrive. He told police, according to the report, he was willing to make things right, and would remove the drawing as soon as possible. Property loss was estimated at $100. Shelton was given a court date of July 2 at Skokie courthouse.

Police reported two street signs and a building in the 600 block of First Avenue were vandalized with black spray paint sometime between midnight on April 21 and 5:36 p.m. on May 21. Property loss was estimated at $100.
