Tuesday Blotter: Callaway Golf Clubs And Other Items Stolen From Family's Vehicle

Victims return from trip, leave belongings in vehicle over night.

The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

August 2: An iPod, a set of Callaway golf clubs, a GPS, fishing poles, and other items totaling more than $1,600 were stolen from a vehicle while it was parked on the 1300 block of South Sixth Avenue. The family had returned from a trip late in the evening and did not unload the car.

August 6: A driver side door mirror was broken off of a vehicle while it was parked on the 1100 block of E. Thacker Street.

Intoxicated pedestrian in roadway

August 7: Police charged William Spelz, 51, of the 1330 block of E. Rand Road with criminal trespassing and intoxicated pedestrian in a roadway after they observed him stumbling around in a "No Trespassing" area near the Des Plaines train depot. Police said Spelz smelled of alcohol and spoke with slurred speech.

Theft of bicycle

August 8: A 20-inch girls Windstorm bicycle was stolen from a front yard on the 900 block of Rose Avenue.
