Tuesday Blotter: Burglary, Suspicious Shed Fire

More than $4,000 stolen from local salon.

The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 31: The front door of Spa Di Da, 1473 Market St., was shattered by unknown offenders and two black bank bags containing more than $4,000 taken.

Comsumption of alcohol by a minor

July 30: Police observed two subjects who appeared to be teenagers walking down the 1800 block of Miner Street after curfew. The young men said that they were walking home to Evanston from a friend's home. Luis Cabrera, 18, of the 1000 block of Dewey Avenue in Evanston admitted to police that he had been drinking and was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Criminal damage to vehicle

July 30: The hood of a vehicle was scratched, possibly with a key, while it was parked on the 300 block of West Dover Drive.

Suspicious fire

July 31: A fire left a shed in the backyard of a residence on the 400 block of Lynn Court engulfed in flames as well as two trees and a fence.

Theft

July 31: A woman reported that her bag was taken from a changing room at Mystic Waters, 2025 East Miner St. A pool employee was in possession of the bag at the front entrance and said a girl who looked to be about 13 years of age turned it into her. A wallet was discovered missing from the bag.
