Thursday Blotter: Stripping For Rides, Stealing From Kids, Gang Has It Out For Lawn Ornaments
It takes a tough guy to rob a bank, but it takes a tougher guy to steal a lawn ornament...
The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Burglary
June 25: The garage of a day care center on the 1300 block of East Prospect Avenue was burglarized and a snow blower and several tools stolen.

Criminal damage to property
June 27: A woman reported that unknown offenders ripped several flowers from planters in her front yard on the 300 block of Westmere Road and scattered them across the lawn.

June 27: A woman reported that lawn ornaments had been damaged at her neighbor's home on the 900 block of East Leahy Circle.
Criminal damage to vehicle
June 27: A man reported that unknown offenders removed several flowers and planters from his lawn on the 400 block of South Leahy Circle and dumped the contents onto two of his vehicles, causing several scratches. A rear tire on one of the vehicles was slashed as well.
Theft
June 26: Multiple lawn ornaments, including a ceramic turtle and and an angel, were stolen from a residence on the 1200 block of Andrea Lane.
June 26: Two nintendo games (that belong to a little boy) were stolen from the library, 1501 Ellinwood St., while the owner was attending a Pokemon event.
June 27: Two mountain bikes were stolen from a parking lot on the 200 block of Dover Drive.
Theft of service
June 25: A cab driver told police that he picked up two females and one male in Chicago who told him to drive them to Des Plaines. When they arrived, they refused to pay the $75 fare. One of the females told the driver that she was a stripper and asked if she could strip for him at a later date as payment. He declined the offer. The three then exited the vehicle and fled.
