Thursday Blotter: Man Spits Blood at Police, Taxi License Stolen, More

Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting a Peace Officer

Police responded to a report a subject hitting the glass on the benches at the Metra train depot, 1501 Miner St., at 6:12 p.m. on June 15. When police asked Steven T. Dean, 43, of Park Ridge why he was banging on the glass and disturbing the other patrons, Dean said, according to the report, he was an alcoholic and his wife was on her way to pick him up.

While speaking to Dean, his wife arrived and said she would take him home. Before releasing Dean, while waiting to hear back from dispatch on a warrant check, Dean became angry and began screaming at the officer.

The report stated that when the officer told Dean to lower his voice and calm down Dean screamed at the officer and threw his sunglasses at him.

Police attempted to handcuff Dean and took him to the ground, hitting Dean's face on the sidewalk. When police attempted to put Dean in the squad car, according to the report, he refused to get in and began spitting blood at the officers and at the squad car.

Once inside the squad car, according to the report, Dean attempted to kick out the rear window.

The Des Plaines Fire Department was called to the station to transport Dean to the hospital for medical treatment of his injuries.

A metallic container containing 15 rectangular pills, identified as Alprazolam, were recovered from Dean.

Dean was charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Aggravated Assault

Police stated a Hispanic male subject, 5’ 10”, medium build, with a design cut into his hair, yelled at a man standing outside of 7-Eleven convenience store, 825 W. Oakton St., and waved a knife at him at 1:30 a.m. on June 17.

The complainant got into his vehicle with his friends and locked the doors while the offender went into the store. According to the report, when the offender exited the store, he grabbed the door handles of the vehicle.

The offender left the scene traveling in a blue, 2011, two-door Chevy Camaro.

Theft from Vehicle

A licensed medallion to be a legal taxi driver in Chicago was removed from the hood from a cab parked in the 300 block of W. Dover Lane sometime between 9 p.m. on June 16 and 8 a.m. on June 17. Property loss was estimated at $300.
