The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 21: The bumper of a vehicle was scratched and damaged while parked on the 300 block of Third Avenue.

Drinking in Public

July 25: Jose F. Benavides-Carranza, 31, of the 1000 block of Everett Lane, was charged with drinking in public for the 12th time this year after police received an anonymous tip that a man was spotted on the 1500 block of East Willow Avenue, drinking from a large glass bottle and shouting obscenities at...no one.

Theft

July 26: A bike was stolen from a rack outside the Des Plaines Library at 1501 Ellinwood St.
