Thursday Blotter: Bicycle And Boat Thieves

18 ft. boat is stolen from man's driveway

The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary

August 1: Two washing machines were broken in a laundry room at an apartment complex on the 2000 block of Ash Street and the coin decks stolen.

Burglary to vehicle

August 2: One vehicle was "egged" and a GPS stolen from another while they were parked at a residence on the 1000 block of East Forest Avenue.

Theft

July 27: A generator, valued at $1,729.42, was stolen from the Des Plaines Park District green house at 2222 Birch St.

July 31: An employee at a convenience store at 1120 S. Lee St. reported that he saw a man taking money from a broken cash register that was left unattended. He yelled at the offender, who ran off with $160. 

August 1: A unlocked Diamond Back mountain bike, valued at $450, was stolen from McDonald's at 725 W. Golf Road.

August 3: A unlocked mountain bike, valued at $100, was stolen from a parking garage on the 1400 block of Prairie Avenue.

Vehicle theft

August 2: An 18 ft. boat and trailer were stolen off of a man's SUV between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. while it was parked in his driveway on the 700 block of Meadow Drive.
