Thursday Blotter: Altered Vehicle Registration, I-Pad Stolen Near Shop ‘n Save, More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Expired Registration, Improper Use of Registration, Possession of Cannabis

While conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration in the 800 block of S. Beau Drive, police smelled cannabis in the vehicle between 3:39 p.m. and 4:12 p.m. on Sept. 21. Police recovered a tissue from the center console of the vehicle with a green leafy substance that tested positive for the probable presence of cannabis. Police also discovered the vehicle registration belonging to the driver, Algonso L. Vierneza, 49, of Des Plaines, was altered with a black marker to read “8-12” instead of “3-12.”

Vierneza was charged with possession of cannabis, expired registration and improper use of registration. Vierneza was given a court date of Oct. 29 at Skokie courthouse.

Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property

An Apple I-Pad with a black leather case was reported stolen from a cart in the Shop ‘n Save Market parking lot, 518 Metropolitan Way, between 5 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 23. A shopper loaded groceries into her vehicle and drove away. When she remembered she forgot her I-Pad in the cart, she returned to the store a short time later. The cart had been moved from next to her vehicle where she left it, and store employees did not have any information about the location of the I-Pad. Property loss was estimated at $850.

Minors Prohibited on Casino Property

Candace Irene Rosado, 20, of Chicago, was issued a citation for minors prohibited from entering the casino after she attempted to enter Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road, using another person’s Illinois driver’s license between midnight and 12:17 a.m. on Sept. 23.
