Sunday Blotter: Man Gets Taken For a Ride

A man gets taken for a ride by thief and another tries his hand at stealing.

Theft

Thursday Sept. 16 at 1:25 p.m. police responded to a call at the 800 block of S. Lee St. A man said he had purchased a silver, Lincoln Town Car from a man at that location. After money exchanged hands the offender went into a residence to retrieve the title to the vehicle and never returned. The victim had found the vehicle through an ad in the chicago Sun-Times and test driven it at an earlier date. The vehicle was not on the premises at the time of the theft. Total property loss $9,200.

Attempted Burglary to a Vehicle

Thursday Sept. 16 at 12:52 a.m. police responded to a call at a residence on the 1300 block of Henry St. A man reported that his silver, Hyundai Sonata had been damaged in what appeared to be an attempted burglary. The driver's side door and door frame was scratched and dented, according to reports. The victim does not think the offender made it in to the vehicle and doesn't suspect anyone.

Thursday Sept. 16 at 1:40 p.m. police responded to a call from an employee at Shop & Save grocery store, 518 Metropolitan Way, who said a man had been apprehended for theft. William T. Fabbri, 87, of the 1400 block of prospect Ave., Prospect Heights, was spotted leaving the Shop & Save and walking to his car with items that were not bagged and appeared to not have been purchased. When an employee approached Fabbri he admitted to taking the items. He said that he had the money for the items but though he could get away with stealing them at the last minute, according to reports. Total property loss is $40.12. Fabbri will appear in court at Skokie Court House Oct. 10.
