Friday Blotter: Business Vandalized, Cars Burglarized

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

GPS stolen

A GPS device was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Metropolitan Way on Dec. 31. The suspect(s) broke the driver’s side window to gain access to the vehicle, the report stated.

Business vandalism

A store in the 700 block of Pearson Street had several of its windows damaged on Dec. 31. The estimated damage was placed at around $2,500, the report stated.

Theft from auto

A radar detector valued at around $200 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 90 block of Walnut Avenue on Dec. 30.

Stolen auto

A car parked in the 2000 block of Pine Street was reported stolen on Jan. 2.

BB gun damage

A man told police that he heard a loud pop while at home in the 1900 block of Birch Street on Dec. 31. It was later revealed that the pop noise was a BB pellet that struck through the man’s window, the report stated. No arrests were made.

Graffiti

A building owner in the 190 block of Fremont Avenue reported that an unknown person(s) used spray paint to write several letters on the side of his building on Jan. 2.

Garage burglary

A garage in the 1400 block of 5th Avenue was burglarized on Jan. 2. According to the report, a snow blower valued at $670 was missing from the unit.

Theft from auto

Two digital cameras were reported stolen from a car parked in Warrington Road on Jan. 2.

Grab-and-go

A gas station employee in the 800 block of Elmhurst Road reported that an unknown person entered his store and stole several pieces of clothing before fleeing in an unknown direction on Jan. 2.

Stolen nativity scene

A homeowner reported that an unknown person(s) stole his Nativity scene outside his home in the 600 block of 5th Avenue on Jan. 2.
