Sexual Assault Charge Follows Teacher’s Discovery of Student’s Note

Bail was set at $300,000 for a Des Plaines man charged with criminal sexual assault, according to the Cook County State's Attorney Office.

A Des Plaines man has been charged with criminal sexual assault after a teacher found a note a student was giving another student, which stated a family member had sexually assaulted her, said Tandra Simonton, spokesperson for the Cook County State’s Attorney Office.

The school’s social worker was contacted, Simonton said, and an interview was completed with the juvenile by the Children’s Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates. During the interview, Simonton said, the minor said she was sexually abused on several occasions.

A judge ordered Eduardo Contreras, 45, of Des Plaines, be held on $300,000 bail at Rolling Meadows courthouse on Monday, Simonton said. Contreras was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault, a class one felony, and is scheduled to appear in court next on Nov. 9. He was arrested at his Des Plaines residence on Oct. 11.
