Police Trace Gun Stolen in Des Plaines after Sting

After reviewing ownership on guns seized in stings, police stated most guns originated in the Illinois and Indiana area, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

In a series of arrests Chicago police made between Aug. 23 and Aug. 26, more than 100 firearms were seized from suspected drug dealers, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. After tracing the ownership on as many of the weapons as possible, one of the guns was traced back to a theft of 140 firearms at Maxon’s Shooters Supply and Indoor Range in Des Plaines in January.

In July, Maxon’s was granted a conditional use permit by city council to move from its location on Rand Road to 74 Bradrock Drive, which is an industrial area in Des Plaines.
