Police Looking for Driver that Struck Des Plaines Boy

Victim was lying in westbound lanes, according to the report.

Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck a 17-year-old Des Plaines boy early Monday morning. The victim was lying in the westbound lanes just west of the Elmhurst Road overpass, said Commander Nicholas Treantafeles of the .

“There are no charges on the driver, but we don’t know who that driver is,” Treantafeles said.

According to the police report, a witness told police the victim was lying in the westbound lanes at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a vehicle struck him. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

Treantafeles said the incident was still under investigation, and no further details were available at this time.

The incident caused all westbound lanes to be closed for three hours as police investigated and the scene was cleaned up, the Daily Herald reported.

The Chicago Tribune reported, according to authorities, that the boy jumped from the Elmhurst Road overpass onto Interstate 90, where he was struck by a vehicle.
