Police: Liquor Store, Gas Station Robber Identified as Des Plaines Man

A Des Plaines man has been charged in connection with two armed robberies, Des Plaines police stated on Nov. 11.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Des Plaines police reported on Sunday they were able to develop information to identify a Des Plaines man to have been involved in two armed robberies at Des Plaines businesses during November.

Jerod Butters, 25, of Des Plaines, was charged with two counts of armed robbery in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at Des Plaines Liquor and Tobacco, 668 Pearson St., at approximately 6:02 p.m. on Nov. 8, and at the Marathon gas station located at 1222 Lee St. at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Nov. 10.

In both incidents the suspect presented a firearm and demanded money from the clerks, police stated. Butters was arrested at a residence on the 800 block of E. Oakton St. early in the morning on Nov. 11. Police stated Butters was seen on video cameras at the liquor store and gas station, and was also identified by witnesses.
