Cops: Park Ridge Man Attempted Four Robberies in 30 Minutes

A Park Ridge man attempted four robberies in about 30 minutes on Oct. 11, police said. He would later be charged with about a dozen offenses.

Nick Kantselis, 44, of the 600 block of Northwest Highway in Park Ridge, was charged with a variety of offenses after attempting four robberies over a 30-minute span, police said.

Kantselis first attempted to rob a restaurant in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue on Oct. 11 at 6:50 a.m. That attempt failed, and Kantselis fled the scene empty handed, police said. He would then try robbing a pharmacy in the 3300 block of Pulaski Avenue about 20 minutes later, but police were called and Kantselis once again fled the scene empty handed. While fleeing, however, Kantselis attempted to forcibly take a customer's backpack, but failed again, the report said.

At 7:19 a.m., Kantselis attempted to rob a drug store in the 4000 block of Cicero Avenue. An employee was closing out his register and Kantselis reached into the register and took an unknown amount of cash, according to the report. Kantselis then jumped over the counter, pushed the employee, and took more money from the register, the report stated. He would later flee the scene in a vehicle that was later stopped by police.

Kantselis was ultimately charged with one count of robbery, three counts of attempted robbery, one count of domestic battery, possession of cannabis, driving under the influence of alcohol, one count of aggravated fleeing from an officer, no proof of insurance and driving on a revoked license.

Chicago officers were able to recover all stolen items and Kantselis appeared in court on Oct. 13. He is being held on a $275,000 bond. No further information is available at this time.
