Multiple Vehicle Burglaries Reported Recently

Take your valuables with you or toss them in the trunk

The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary to vehicle

June 23: Two women reported that windows of each of their vehicles had been smashed while parked on the 200 block of Miner Street and their purses stolen.

June 25: A woman reported that a camera and a pair of gold earrings were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked on the 1800 block of Orchard Street. According to the police report, the woman came out to her vehicle in the morning and noticed that the driver's side door was ajar but didn't think anything of it until she noticed the items were missing later that afternoon. The woman told police she "thinks" she may have left the door unlocked, as there were no signs of forced entry.

June 25: A checkbook and iPod were stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked on the 400 block of Western Avenue.

June 25: A man reported that the driver's side window of his vehicle was smashed and his car rummaged through while it was parked on the 1300 block of Fargo Avenue. 

June 25: The windows of two vehicles were smashed and change stolen from the vehicles while they were parked in a lot on the 2100 block of Ash Street.

June 25: A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the 100 block of West Ambleside Road and damaged his turn signal lever. 

June 26: A car window was broken and a wallet stolen from the vehicle while it was parked in a lot on the 1300 block of Fargo Avenue.

June 26: An unknown offender entered an unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the 1000 block of East Prairie Avenue and took a wallet containing $250 from the center console.
