Monday Blotter: Possession of Cannabis Charge Follows DUI Arrest and More

Possession of Cannabis

David R. Hissong, 55, of Mount Prospect, was charged with possession of cannabis after police recovered a metal container containing less than one gram of a green, leafy substance suspected to be cannabis from the center console of his vehicle in the 300 block of W. Oakton St. at 10:11 p.m. on May 5. Police stated they recovered the metal container from Hissong’s vehicle while conducting a search in connection with a crash for which Hissong was arrested for DUI.

Hissong was given a court date of June 11 at Skokie courthouse.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

Police stated the front and back windows of a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of E. Stockton Avenue were broken sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. on May 5. It appeared the offender used a large stone and a flat piece of flagstone to damage the vehicle, as they were found lying on the ground nearby. The hood of the vehicle also was dented and scraped. Property loss was estimated at $750.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

The windshield on a vehicle parked in the 2000 block of S. Pine Street was shattered sometime between 10:30 p.m. on May 4 and 10:40 a.m. on May 5. Police stated a landscaping brick was found lying on the ground next to the vehicle, and property loss was estimated at $250.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Police reported that a stereo faceplate, wallet, sunglasses and other items were removed from a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of E. Ashland Avenue sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on May 4. The offender entered the vehicle through the unlocked driver’s side door, and property loss was estimated at $150.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A Leatherman Tool and pocket knife were removed from a vehicle parked in the 900 block of S. Marshall Drive sometime between 5 p.m. on May 5 and 6 a.m. on May 6, according to police. Property loss was estimated at $45.

Trespassing

Gabriel F. Morales, 46, of Chicago, a member of the self-exclusion list, was issued a citation for trespassing after attempting to get a cash advance at Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road, between 5:41 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. on May 6, according to police.

The Illinois Gaming Board began the Statewide Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program for Problem Gamblers in 2002, according to the Illinois Gaming Board’s website. It allows people who are problem gamblers to self-exclude themselves from Illinois casinos for a minimum of five years.

Gene O’Shea, Director of Self-Exclusion for the Illinois Gaming Board, individuals can petition to be removed from the list after five years, but no one has ever succeeded in this.
