Monday Blotter: If You're Going to Smoke Weed and Drive, Make Sure Your Headlights Work

Three people pulled over Sunday in possession of drug paraphernalia, man with snow blower gets violent.

Assault and battery

Thursday Feb. 3 police were dispatched to an alleyway on the 1200 block of Harding Avenue after receiving phone calls about a man who attacked two people, hitting them with closed fists, after they protested him plowing snow, which blocked their vehicles, according to reports.

Chris Kromidas, 40, of the 1200 block of Brown Street was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of battery.

Illegal possession of alcohol by a minor/ retail theft

Friday Feb. 4 police were dispatched to a Dominicks grocery store at 1555 S. Lee St. for a theft in progress. Harold J. McKinney-Ealy, 18, put a bottle of Smirnoff vodka and a bottle of Jagermeister under his coat and exited the store without paying, according to reports. He was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and retail theft.

Petit theft

Saturday Feb. 5 police were dispatched to Dominicks at 1555 S. Lee St. (again) for a theft in progress (again). Adam J. Strobel, 18, of the 700 block of Therese Terrace and another young man, who is a minor, were charged with petit theft after hiding three bottles of Smirnoff vodka and one bottle of Skyy vodka under their coats, according to reports.

DUI/ possession of cannabis

Saturday Feb. 5 police responded to an intoxicated driver complaint. After stopping the man police found two empty 12 oz. cans of Bud Light, an empty 200 ml bottle of Hennessy and a bag of what was suspected to be cannabis in the vehicle. Anthony Sayles, 57, of the 1700 block of Brown Street in Evanston was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis and driving with no insurance. 

Possession of a controlled substance/ no valid driver's license

Sunday Feb. 6 police pulled over a man who was driving a vehicle with one headlight. After questioning the man, police found him to be in possession of cannabis and cocaine, according to reports. Jaime Enrique Soto, 26, of the 1300 block of N. 33rd Ave in Melrose Park was charged with no valid license, possession of cannabis and possession of a controlled substance.

Sunday Feb. 6 police pulled over a man who was driving a vehicle with one headlight (again). After questioning the man, police found him to be in possession of cannabis and a cannabis smoking pipe, according to reports. Jonathan M. Nosko, 18, of the 5800 block of N. Elston Avenue in Chicago was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sunday Feb. 6 police pulled over a man who was driving a vehicle with one headlight (this is getting ridiculous). After questioning the driver and passenger, police found a pipe for smoking cannabis in the vehicle, according to reports. Shaun M. Medellin, 24, of the 4100 block of Cove Lane in Glenview was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
