Monday Blotter: $4,000 in Cash, Bottle of Vodka Stolen, More
The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.
Burglary
A gold chain with a medallion and $4,000 in cash were reported stolen at a residence on the 600 block of Birchwood Avenue between 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 24 and 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 25. Window screens were removed and found laying on the ground outside the residence, and the window to the bedroom where the items were removed from was found open. Property loss was estimated at $4,200.

Criminal Trespass to Real Property, Retail Theft
William Roger Brandt, 50, of Wheeling, was charged with retail theft and criminal trespass to real property after police stated he took a bottle of Smirnoff vodka from Jewel-Osco grocery store, 819 S. Elmhurst Road, without purchasing it at 10:37 p.m. on Sept. 24. Property loss was estimated at $12.97.

Drinking in Public
Garry A. Kerley, 40, of Elk Grove Village, was issued a citation for drinking in public after police observed him drinking a 24-ounce can of Icehouse beer in front of Joe Caputo and Sons grocery store, 959 E. Oakton St., between 6:20 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 27.
