Man Charged With DUI, Punching Motorist

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police responded to a hit and run traffic crash in the 600 block of E. Howard Avenue on Jan. 1 around 12:38 a.m.

According to the police report, Anthony Lee Stanley, 24, of Elmhurst, drove his vehicle into a parked pickup truck. The owner of that vehicle came out to see if Stanley was OK. After exchanging a few words, the owner of the hit vehicle told Stanley he was going to call the police.

Police state that Stanley then punched the man in the face and fled on foot. However, the suspect left behind his driver’s license.

Police later found Stanley lying on the ground a few blocks from the first incident. According to police, Stanley smashed out the driver’s side window of a running vehicle in an attempt to flee, but was knocked out by the owner of that vehicle.

Police charged Stanley with driving under the influence of alcohol, having no valid insurance, battery and criminal damage to property. He was transported to Lutheran General Hospital for treatment.
