Man Accused of Shoving Rivers Casino Security Guards, More in Friday Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Battery

Chad N. Gittins, 26, of Bay City, Michigan, was charged with battery after an altercation with security guards at Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road, between 11:39 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. on Feb. 10, police stated.

Casino security told police, according to the report, Gittins was ejected from the casino because he was highly intoxicated, and, while escorting Gittins from the property, he shoved security guards, police stated. Gittins was given a court date of March 5 at Skokie courthouse.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A pair of Gucci brand sunglasses were reported stolen from an unlocked car parked in the driveway of a residence on the 500 block of E. Columbia Avenue sometime between 8 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 6:33 a.m. on Feb. 7, police stated. Property loss was estimated at $100.

Theft

Joseph Nathan Sykes, 57, of Des Plaines, was charged with theft after police stated he stole a glucometer from a Des Plaines Fire Department ambulance, while being transported to the hospital, between 10 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 1:10 a.m. on Feb. 10. The glucometer was recovered, and property loss was estimated at $100, according to the report. Sykes was given a court date of March 28 at Skokie courthouse.
