Homeless Woman Hit By Car, Charged With Being Intoxicated Pedestrian

Veronica Gorlicki was struck by a vehicle on Feb. 9.

A homeless woman is facing charges of being an intoxicated pedestrian after being hit by a car in Des Plaines earlier this month, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.

Police say Vernoica L. Gorlicki, 39, was staggering in the roadway at Lee Street and Forest Avenue the evening of Feb. 9 when a woman hit her with her car. Gorlicki was taken to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge for treatment where police officers say she smelled of alcohol, the newspaper reports.

Gorlicki has been arrested for various crimes in Des Plaines in the past, including possession of open alcohol in August of 2011 and criminal damage to property and trespassing in May of 2011.

I believe the aldermen are Denise Rodd south of Dempster and Dick Sayad north. Contact them.Read More Although I do not live in Rodd's ward (Im in the 8th) I am somehow on her mailing list and she keeps wanting to know what she can do for me. Here is something.

I suggest contacting the alderman to raise the profile of what these streets need.
