Friday Blotter: Wooden Fence Ripped out, $45K of Landscaping Equipment Stolen, More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary to Vehicle

Landscaping equipment was reported stolen from two trailers parked in a parking lot in the 1000 block of E. North Avenue sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 25.

The fence around the lot was cut and pulled back on the west, north and east sides. The latches on the rear doors of the trailers were cut. Police stated it appeared the equipment was removed from the area through a wooded area on the north and west sides because there was a wide path of trampled plants and disturbed ground leading from the scene to that area.

Missing items included three yellow, 52-inch Wright standing deck mowers, three Kawasaki hedge trimmers model KHS750B, three Red Max backpack leaf blowers and one edge trimmer. Property loss was estimated at $45,450

Malicious Mischief

Police reported a six-foot wooden fence was pulled from a residence front yard on the 600 block of S. Lyman Avenue, and thrown into a wooded area across the street sometime between 8 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 25. A dead end sign owned by the city was also pulled from the ground and thrown into the wooded area.

Criminal Damage to Property

The driver’s side window on a car parked in a business’ parking lot in the 400 block of W. Touhy Avenue was smashed sometime between 9 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 2 a.m. on Aug. 28. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle. Property loss was estimated at $125.
