Friday Blotter: Thieves Return to Sam's Club, Third Time in 30 Days

Woman steals nuts and chocolate, man "doesn't know" if his license is valid and Sam's Club thieves return.

Monday Feb. 7 police responded to a report of theft at the Shop n' Save grocery store, 518 Metropolitan Way. A Loss Prevention Officer observed a woman placing items in her purse and coat pockets and then exit the store without paying, according to reports. He confronted the woman and called police.

Antigoni K. Bouboulinis, 58, of the 1100 block of Patton Avenue in Lake of the Hills was charged with retail theft. Items found to be in her possession were one bag of pistachios, one bag of cashews, one box of Dieter's tea, one package of sponges and various packages of chocolate candies, according to reports.

Retail theft/ Sam's Club thief strikes again

Wednesday Feb. 9 police were dispatched to Sam's Club, 101 W. Oakton St. for a report of theft. An unknown offender placed two Samsung LCD monitors into a cart and left through an emergency exit without paying. The offender then entered a green, Ford Explorer that was waiting for him outside and fled the scene. This is the that a theft similar to this has occurred.

Illegal sale of tobacco to a minor

Wednesday Feb. 9 police charged Babu Abraham, 55, of the 9400 block of Sumac Road with selling tobacco to a minor after he sold cigarettes to an underage girl at a gas station at 1990 S. Mannheim Road, according to reports. Police were conducting compliance checks in the area. More than 20 locations in the area passed the compliance checks.

Unlawful possession of fraudulent driver's license

Wednesday Feb. 9 police pulled over a man driving a van because he only had one working headlight. When asked for his license and insurance the man provided a valid insurance card but what appeared to be a fraudulent license, according to reports, due to many inconsistencies with a valid license, including a five numerical character issue date, as opposed to six. 

The man was taken into custody and admitted that he was unsure of the license' validity because he purchased it through a friend for $300, according to reports. William V. Ayabaca, 35, of the 3000 block of W. Leland Ave. in Chicago was charged unlawful possession of a fraudulent license, no valid license and improper lane usage-one lighted headlamp.
