Friday Blotter: Motel Trespassing, Newspapers Stolen, More

Criminal Trespass to Real Property

Police were dispatched to Rand Manor Motel, 1322 E. Rand Road, for a trespassing report on July 24. Motel employees reported an unwanted subject, Christine M. Czajka-Homer, 48, of Des Plaines, causing problems at 3:34 p.m. on July 24. When police arrived, Czajka-Homer was no longer on the property.

Police were called back to the motel at 6:28 p.m. on July 24 when Czajka-Homer returned to the property. She was warned not to return to the motel, and transported to her home, police stated.

At 7:33 p.m. on July 24, police responded to Rand Manor Motel because Czajka-Homer was on the property. She was charged with criminal trespass to property and given a court date of Aug. 21 at Skokie courthouse.

Three newspapers were reported stolen on two occasions in front of Foremost Liquors, 840 S. Elmhurst Road, from bundles in front of the business early in the morning, police stated.

Video surveillance showed an individual cut a bundle of Chicago Sun-Times newspapers and take a copy at 6:23 a.m. on July 21.

On the second occasion, police stated, what appeared on video to be the same individual from July 21, described as a white male subject driving a blue Volkswagen Jetta, cut two bundles of newspapers and removed copies of the Chicago Sun-Times and the Daily Herald early in the morning on July 24. Property loss was estimated at $2.50.

Theft

Deborah Ann Hernandez, 48, of Mount Prospect, was issued a citation for theft after police stated she was seen concealing items in her purse and leaving K-Mart, 1155 E. Oakton St., without paying for them between 5:45 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. on July 21. According to the report, Hernandez attempted to steal a package of laxatives, mascara, lip stain and reading glasses. Property loss was estimated at $36.06.
