Friday Blotter: Man Urinates on Grocery Store

Graffiti

Police were dispatched for a graffiti report in the 10 block of Roxbury Lane at 4:31 a.m. on Jan. 6. According to the report, an unknown offender vandalized a stop sign with pink spray paint sometime between 9 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 6.

A check of the area revealed a second graffiti incident in the 1300 block of Danbury Lane, which occurred sometime during the same time period. An unknown offender sprayed a neighborhood watch sign with blue spray paint. Police reported it is unknown whether the incidents are related. Estimated property loss for each of the two incidents is $100.

Public Indecency

Vasilios A. Katsikaris, 59, of Des Plaines, was charged with public indecency after police observed him urinating on the north side of the Dominck’s grocery store building, 1555 Lee St., at 11:58 a.m. on Jan. 4. According to the report, Katsikaris admitted to police that he urinated, and said he was waiting for his wife, who was in the store, and could not hold it any longer.

Possession of Cannabis/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle report in the 500 block of Figard Lane at 9:54 p.m. on Jan. 4. According to the report, police received a call from a complainant, who wanted to remain anonymous, about a parked car running with its lights off.

When police arrived on scene the responding officer found three men inside a 2005 silver Hyundai. While speaking with the driver, Bryant J. Weber, 21, of Sleepy Hollow, police smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from the inside of the vehicle. When police asked Weber if he had anything illegal in the car, Weber said, “I have some weed and a grinder in the vehicle.”

Weber handed the responding officer a clear plastic bag of a green, leafy substance, which later tested positive for the probably presence of cannabis, which was in the front center arm rest. All three men were searched and no contraband was found on their persons. Police recovered a black, metal grinder, commonly used to grind cannabis, in the front center console.

Weber was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, and given a court date of Feb. 8 at Skokie courthouse.

Minors Prohibited, Casino

Police were dispatched for a report of a minor attempting to enter Rivers Casino at 2:55 a.m. on Jan. 6. According to the report, Nathan I. Cohen, 20, of Northbrook, told police he attempted to enter the casino because he wanted to gamble, and said he was sorry for trying to get in while under 21 years old.

Cohen was stopped by casino security at the entrance because he didn’t have identification. Cohen went back to his car and returned to the entrance with fake identification from Arizona, stopped by security again, and taken into custody.

Cohen was issued a citation for minor attempting to enter the casino, and was escorted off the property without incident.
