Wednesday Feb 23. police pulled over a man, who was driving with a passenger and an infant in the backseat of the vehicle, for speeding. Police detected the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath and gave him a field sobriety test, which he failed, according to reports. Antwan L. Sheard, 29, of the 2600 block of St. Charles Road in Bellwood was charged with aggravated DUI with no license, DUI with B.A.C. over .08, DUI, speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver's license and endangering the life of a child.

Wednesday Feb. 23 police responded to a call from a woman who said her vehicle had been broken into and an antique style knife had been taken valued at $30.  Police observed that the rubber between the window and the driver's side door had been removed.

Drinking in public

Wednesday Feb. 23 police responded to a complaint of a man drinking in the stairwell of the Metropolitan Square parking garage, where he was advised that he could not be drinking in public. Police emptied the beer that the man had in his possession and escorted him out. Two hours later police received another call about the man drinking in public near the Sugar Bowl restaurant. Albert L. Campbell, 51, who is homeless was charged with drinking in public.
