Friday Blotter: Dog Walker Encounters Flasher

Suspended driver aggravates situation and charges after being caught red-handed.

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Woman encounters flasher

Police responded to an indecent exposure report in the 2700 block of Maple Street at 8:39 p.m. Aug. 22. According to the report, the woman told police that while walking her dog on Maple Street, just north of Pratt Avenue, a man stopped his blue van in front of her and asked her a question, which she could not hear. The victim thought the man might have been asking for directions.

When she asked him to repeat his question the man said, “You want some of this?” With the vehicle’s interior lights on, he raised his hips above the window with this pants unbuckled, exposing his penis.

The woman replied, "No," but she would get his license plate. The offender then turned off his headlights and took off northbound on Maple Street.

Suspended driver turns bad to worse

While on patrol about 4 a.m. Aug. 22, police were investigating a suspicious orange 1995 Nissan Quest van parked in the 2000 block of South Chestnut Street when a white Chrysler 300 sedan passed by.

Police recognized the driver as Loulita LeFlore and recalled she had a suspended driver’s license from a prior incident. LeFlore began speeding southbound on Chestnut Street toward her residence in the 2100 block of Chestnut Street, according to the report.

Police observed LeFlore park her vehicle and exit from the driver’s seat. When police sought to speak with her, LeFlore yelled, “I already got all those tickets and I don’t need to listen to you.” She then entered her residence, and police had the vehicle towed.

Leflore, who later turned herself in, admitted she made a mistake by not listening to police and that she was driving her car when police attempted to stop her vehicle.

LeFlore was charged with driving while her license was suspended, having no proof of insurance and resisting a peace officer. She has a court date of Oct. 5.
