Friday Blotter: Aggravated DUI, Vehicle Theft, More

Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Resisting a Peace Officer

Arturo Nmi Pulido-Olivo, 37, of Des Plaines, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting a peace officer after police conducted a traffic stop on him in the 400 block of E. Golf Road. Police were directing traffic at the railroad crossing on Golf Road due to a gate malfunction when Pulido-Olivo was traveling westbound on Golf Road and approached the officer at a high rate of speed while the officer had both hands raised overhead indicating for traffic to stop.

According to the report, the officer jumped onto the median to avoid being struck by Pulido-Olivo’s pickup truck, and the officer shouted at him to stop. The officer handcuffed Pulido-Olivo and told him to sit down on the median. Pulido-Olivo then stood up, and, according to the report, ran northbound across Golf Road. Police pursued him on foot and took Pulido-Olivo into custody. Police discovered later that Pulido-Olivo did not have a valid driver’s license, and he was given a court date of May 24 at Skokie courthouse.

Vehicle Theft

Police reported a 1999 white Ford Taurus was stolen from the parking lot of an apartment building in the 2100 block of S. Chestnut St. sometime between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on May 21.

Unlawful Conduct of Operations

Ebrahim Merza, 53, of Skokie, was issued a citation for unlawful conduct of operations after police stopped him in the 1100 block of W. Grant Drive between 7:12 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on May 21. Police stated Merza was using his pick-up truck to collect scrap from residents the night before garbage pick-up, and his truck did not have any business markings on it indicating it was used as a “junk wagon.”
