Firefighters Respond to Fatal Traffic Crash, Boy in River, More During Snowstorm in Des Plaines

The Des Plaines Fire Department responded to numerous calls during the snowstorm on Tuesday.

The Des Plaines Fire Department was busy during the snowstorm on Tuesday afternoon, when crews responded to numerous calls between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Firefighters responded the first of four calls, a traffic crash report at the intersection of Mount Prospect and Algonquin Roads at 3:14 p.m. on March 5, stated Des Plaines Fire Chief Alan Wax in an email to Patch. No injuries were reported and the crash was minor, Wax stated.

The Des Plaines Fire Department responded to a report of an unconscious man lying down next to a snow blower on the 1000 block of Third Avenue, Wax stated, at 3:20 p.m. on March 5.

Des Plaines firefighters responded to a report of a child that ran across Miner Street and jumped into the Des Plaines River near the dam at Joseph Schwab Road at 3:38 p.m. on March 5.

Firefighters extricated a man from a car that was smashed between the median wall and a semi truck on the I-294 Tollway after responding to a traffic crash report at 3:55 p.m. on March 5.

I believe the aldermen are Denise Rodd south of Dempster and Dick Sayad north. Contact them.Read More Although I do not live in Rodd's ward (Im in the 8th) I am somehow on her mailing list and she keeps wanting to know what she can do for me. Here is something.

I suggest contacting the alderman to raise the profile of what these streets need.
