FBI: Another Bank Robbery by Suspect in Des Plaines Attempted Armed Robbery

A man the FBI suspects is the same person that attempted an armed robbery at a Des Plaines bank on Oct. 14 robbed another bank in Stickney, a western suburb, on Oct. 24, according to information released by the FBI through BanditTrackerChicago.com.

As of 5 p.m. on Oct. 25, the FBI had not located the suspect, described as 40-50 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7, with blonde hair and balding, wearing a flannel shirt.

Three of the four robberies occurred at TCF Banks in Jewel-Osco grocery stores, including the most recent robbery in Stickney and the attempted robbery in Des Plaines. The fourth robbery occurred at a Charter One Bank in Norridge.

The attempted armed robbery in Des Plaines occurred at Jewel-Osco, 819 S. Elmhurst Road, at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 14, according to police.

Commander Nick Treantafeles of the Des Plaines Police Department said the man approached the shift supervisor at the bank and said, “Give me all your money or I’ll blow your head off.” He then showed the bank worker a notepad, which stated, according to police, “Give me all your money.”

When the bank employee reached for the notepad to see what it said, Treantafeles said, the man pulled it back and walked away.

Pictures from surveillance video footage from each of the incidents has also been posted on the bandit-tracker website.
