Factory Fire Estimated $300,000 Loss

The fire department responded to a call in southwest Des Plaines Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to a call at Bradrock Industries, 75 E. Bradrock Drive, Monday morning, which caused an estimated $300,000 in property loss, according to Des Plaines Fire Chief Alan Wax.

firefighters began arriving on the scene at 8:23 a.m., four minutes after receiving the call, Wax said. Elk Grove Village sent an engine to assist in the incident.

“Everyone was out of the building and accounted for by the time crews arrived on the scene, and no rescues were necessary at the advanced factory fire,” Wax said.

One employee was evaluated and transported to Lutheran General Hospital because he felt weak, Wax said.

The department is still investigating the cause of the fire. Wax said it began in a room separate from the main factory floor, and contained manufacturing equipment that accounted for much of the property loss.
