Driver Charged with DUI after Pedestrian Dies in Crash

The victim, a 42-year-old from Chicago, was killed while walking on Touhy in Des Plaines Wednesday evening.

An Ingleside man has been charged with aggravated DUI resulting in death after police say he struck and killed a pedestrian on Touhy Avenue Wednesday night in Des Plaines.

Robert Grossman, 44, was charged in the death of Kenneth Davis, 42, of Chicago. Des Plaines police say Grossman was driving west on Touhy Avenue near Frontage Road when he hit and killed Davis a little before 8:30 p.m.

Police said they determined that Grossman was driving under the influence of alcohol. The Cook County State’s Attorney authorized a felony charge of aggravated DUI resulting in death.

Grossman will appear in court in Skokie on Friday for a bond hearing.
