Donated Grill Stolen from Church, More in Tuesday Police Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Theft

A 6-foot by 3-foot black grill was reported stolen from a church on the 2300 block of Dempster Street at 2 p.m. on May 9, police stated. A witness told police a scrapper truck was seen taking the grill from the area, according to the report. The grill was recently donated to the church, according to the report, and property loss was estimated at $400.

Attempted Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property

Police were dispatched for a report of a burglary in progress on the 2000 block of S. Eastview Drive at 8:53 p.m. on May 10, police stated. A witness told police the doorbell was heard ringing multiple times at the house before a window was heard breaking, according to the report. A witness screamed and called police, according to the report.

When police arrived on the scene they found a rock in the basement that was used to break the window, according to the report, and did not find anyone in the house. Property loss was estimated at $50.

Burglary

Jewelry including necklaces, rings and a bracelet, a Wii game console and a bottle of tequila was reported stolen from a residence on the 1500 block of S. Webster Lane sometime between 5 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on May 11, police stated. The kitchen window was found open and the rear door was found unlocked, according to the report, when the residents returned. Property loss was estimated at $2,010.
